I became aware of this non-profit during an internship with the Annie E. Casey Foundation in Atlanta while studying for a late in life masters degree in Urban Sociology. Being a dog lover, I was naturally drawn to their rescue mission, but was even more touched by their goal to make a difference in the lives of the children in their community, and ultimately their underserved community as a whole.
We eventually adopted one of their rescue dogs named Red who was our Covid quarantine foster fail. He had been homeless for quite some time with a bullet in his hip, but has settled in nicely to daily walks with his favorite person (my husband), comfy sofa naps, and dining out.
BeLoved supports women who have been victims of sex trafficking, as "Atlanta has the largest sex economy of any city in America".
Their founder, Amelia Quinn is our favorite Nifty model and we are so happy to have met her. My sister Mary, as a designer, has helped decorate their beautiful homes where the women live and she has recruited me to join her on installation days.
I'm also thankful for the friendship of Amelia's mother, Debbie. She and Mary are great friends and full of fun, love, and a search for new horizons.
